2016
My projects in 2016 were focused on life in and around the city and the layering of history underpinning what the city is today. The “city” in this instance is my home city of Auckland, New Zealand. Some of the motifs are specific to Auckland,
Tāmaki Makau Rau ('Isthmus of one thousand lovers', also translated as 'Tamaki-the bride sought by a hundred suitors'). The sentiments and observations apply to any city, especially the layering of occupation over time, the significances that are important to different peoples at different historical moments.
